During this exceptional period of self-isolation, fortunately we can still work in the vines, which continue to follow the rhythm of nature, oblivious to mankind’s confinement.
As such, the whole team is outside, bent over the rows, since the fine spring weather means growth is getting off to a quick start.
After pruning, which will continue until the end of the month for the grand crus, it will be time to lay down the canes and ties them to the trellising wires.
It is also the moment to apply organic fertilizer in certain plots.
The warm weather, at around 20 degrees Celsius, is making the sap rise, resulting the in the vines “weeping”. The soil is also coming back to life. This is what we call budbreak.
The next step will be the first buds, expected in around a fortnight.
Our thoughts are with all the friends of the Domaine, near and far, and we hope to see you very soon to share a new era together, with a new shift to simplicity and the essential nature of things, which has encapsulated our values for the past 20 years.
