Winter is a busy time in the cellar, and the hard work continues into spring when we will finish bottling the last whites of the 2019 vintage in April, accompanied by a waning moon to help preserve the aromas.
All the red village wines were bottled on 7, 8, and 10 December followed by the red premier and grand crus, in February, and the last whites in April after fining.
The 2019 is a vigorous, concentrated vintage with lots of fresh and intense fruit and good body. The Clos Blanc is currently combining force and freshness, already showing a good sense of balance.
But 2019 was a small harvest, with volumes down by 45% compared to the generous 2018 vintage – the yield slashed by almost half from one year to the next…
