Volnay expresses the most ardent sensuality of the Pinot Noir grape. Indeed, our forebears imagined that the soul of Volnay was forged on an ancient volcano. It is true that this wine reflects something feminine in its impulses and passion. Perhaps the best way to describe it is that it leaves the imprint of a kiss on the Côte de Beaune!
It is a blend of our two plots of Ez Blanches and Clos des Chênes, which enjoy their south-southeast exposure and are typically drenched in sunshine. The 2018 vintage was harvested on a “fruit” day in the lunar calendar with one third of the crop fermented in whole bunches, followed by 15 months of ageing in barrels made from Cîteaux and Tronçais oak.
It offers exquisite finesse and leaves its fragrance in its wake…
